SMALL GROUP MEDICAL / PISTOL / RIFLE CLASSES

Introduction to Small Group Classes

WANT A PRIVATE CLASS?


NEED A CLASS THAT IS NOT ON THE SCHEDULE?


YES - WE CAN DO THAT!


We offer semi private classes for groups of 2-6 shooters. 

These classes can be offered on a weekend when no Patriot Training class is scheduled (occasionally during the week). 


Semi Private classes are $1500 for entry level and $2000 for advanced level topics - when hosted at Mountain Top Gun and Archery. Prices for Semi Private classes to be hosted elsewhere will be adjusted for travel.

THE RIFLEMAN MEDICAL:  ($1000)

  • Trauma Medical class: Stop the Bleed plus more!
  • 4 hours - either a morning (8:30 am - 12:30 pm) or an afternoon (1:00 pm - 5:00 pm)


ENTRY LEVEL CLASSES:  ($1500)

  • 8 hour classes: 8:30 am - 5:30 pm
  • Essential Pistol Day 1 - Pistol Fundamentals
  • Urban Rifleman Day 1 - Tactical Rifle Fundamentals
  • American Rifleman - Marksmanship Fundamentals. 
  • Expert Rifleman Day 1 - Scoped Rifle Fundamentals
  • Essential Shotgun Day 1 - Shotgun Fundamentals. 


ADVANCED LEVEL CLASSES:  ($2000)

  • Advanced Pistol: Active Shooter
  • Advanced Pistol: Church Security
  • Advanced Rifle: CQB Mastery
  • Advanced Rifle: Long Range Patrol 2-Day  ($2500)

(Prerequisite for Long Range Patrol: A zeroed Rifle and fundamental rifle handling ability - load, unload, malfunction clearing)

CLASS PROFILE - RIFLEMAN MEDICAL - $1000

With influence from Stop the Bleed, TCCC/TECC, CLS, and more, Patriot Training brings you the in-house trauma medical class: 


THE RIFLEMAN MEDICAL


Rapid blood loss is the most preventable cause of death. This class goes over best practices and best tools for stopping the rapid blood loss. Topics start with theory and are heavy on practical application.


Topics: tourniquet indications, tourniquet application, tourniquet selection, tourniquet comparisons, wound pack indications wound pack applications, wound pack materials selection, pressure dressing indication, pressure dressing application, pressure dressing selection, chest seal indication, chest seal application, and chest seal selection; and other pertinent topics. 


Completion of Rifleman Medical will satisfy the coursework for Stop the Bleed.

CLASS PROFILE - ENTRY LEVEL CLASSES - $1500

These classes are designed to get you familiar with the Essentials of using a handgun or rifle for self defense. 


ENTRY LEVEL CLASSES:

  • Pistol Fundamentals
  • Tactical Rifle Fundamentals
  • Scoped Rifle Fundamentals
  • Essential Shotgun


Among the topics covered:


ESSENTIAL PISTOL DAY 1 - PISTOL FUNDAMENTALS

  • We will cover proper marksmanship. 
  • We will establish a proper draw and presentation
  • We will cover safe pistol reholstering
  • We will cover what to do after the defensive actions
  • We will cover legalities of defensive force. 
  • We will cover weapons manipulation.


URBAN RIFLEMAN DAY 1 - TACTICAL RIFLE FUNDAMENTALS

  • We will cover proper marksmanship. 
  • We will establish a proper zero for your sights / scope / red dot.  
  • We will cover close range considerations. 
  • We will cover close range techniques. 
  • We will cover close range tactics.


AMERICAN RIFLEMAN - MARKSMANSHIP FUNDAMENTALS

  • We will cover proper marksmanship. 
  • We will cover obtaining a refined zero on the rifle  
  • We will cover trajectory and implications. 
  • We will cover advanced practical marksmanship: 25 to 200+ yards 
  • We will cover unbraced shooting positions - standing, kneeling, sitting, and prone. 


EXPERT RIFLEMAN DAY 1 - SCOPED RIFLE FUNDAMENTALS

  • We will cover proper marksmanship. 
  • We will cover obtaining a refined zero on the rifle  
  • We will cover trajectory and implications. 
  • We will cover advanced practical marksmanship: 50 to 300+ yards 
  • We will cover braced shooting positions - standing, kneeling, sitting, prone, and variations - each from 100+ yards 


ESSENTIAL SHOTGUN DAY 1 - SHOTGUN ESSENTIALS

  • We will cover proper marksmanship. 
  • We will cover defensive shotgun load selection 
  • We will cover home defense situations
  • We will cover shotgun manipulation


These classes have no prerequisites


PLEASE BRING - ALL ENTRY LEVEL CLASSES

  • If you wear prescription lenses / glasses - BRING THEM!  
  • Notepad & pen 
  • Eye protection & ear protection. 
  • WATER! 
  • Food - there is no place nearby from which to buy lunch / snacks.


PLEASE BRING - PISTOL FUNDAMENTALS

  • Your carry Pistol
  • Revolvers are perfectly acceptable
  • Quality holster (kydex or stiff leather - stays open for reholstering)
  • OWB (outside the waistband) is ok!
  • IWB (inside the waistband) is ok!
  • AIWB (appendix inside the waistband) is ok!
  • Sturdy Carry belt
  • 3 or more magazines.   Please feel free to prep mags ahead of class. 
  • 2 or more speed loaders for revolvers. 
  • 250 rounds ammunition - same brand, same type 


PLEASE BRING - TACTICAL RIFLE FUNDAMENTALS

  • Your carry Pistol
  • 2 or more magazines.   Please feel free to prep mags ahead of class. 
  • 100 rounds pistol ammunition - same brand, same type 
  • Quality OWB holster (kydex or stiff leather - stays open for reholstering)
  • Sturdy Carry belt
  • This is not a suitable class for a revolver


  • A "fighting" rifle (semi auto magazine fed). AR or AK style rifle strongly preferred. AR/AK pistol OK.
  • PCCs and 22 LR rifles are NOT recommended. They jam too much. The ones that jam the most are the ones that "never have had issues before." 
  • AR pistols and AK pistols are perfectly fine. 


  • Your rifle needs to have a Sling. Patriot Training recommends a 2-point Vickers sling, a Magpul MS style sling, or similar.
  • Iron sights, red dots, LPVO scopes all acceptable. 
  • 4+ rifle magazines, minimum. (a handful of AR-15 loaner magazines will be available) 
  • 300 round minimum, of rifle ammo - same brand / same type. (NO green tip or armor piercing)


PLEASE BRING - AMERICAN RIFLEMAN

  • A safe, functional rifle. Bolt action, lever action, semi auto, etc. 
  • Your rifle needs to have a Sling. Patriot Training recommends a 2-point Vickers sling, a Magpul MS style sling, or similar.
  • Iron sights, red dots, LPVO scopes all acceptable. 
  • 2+ rifle magazines, minimum; if your rifle is magazine fed. . (a handful of AR-15 loaner magazines will be available) 
  • 150 rounds, minimum, of rifle ammo - same brand / same type. (NO green tip or armor piercing)


PLEASE BRING - SCOPED RIFLE FUNDAMENTALS

A scoped AR-Platform rifle strongly suggested, preferably chambered in .223/5.56. Preferably with 13.7" / 14.5" / 16" / 18" / 20" barrel. 

  • .223 / 5.56 mm preferred. (AR10 - .308 / 6.5 CM are not ideal, but acceptable)
  • 13.7" & up
  • 4+ magazines, minimum. Please prep mags ahead of class. (a handful of AR-15 loaner magazines will be available) 
  • 300 rounds of ammo, minimum - same brand / same type. 
  • A sling to carry your rifle with. Patriot Training recommends a 2-point Vickers sling, a Magpul MS style sling, or similar.
  • The standard items listed at bottom of page
  • Don't have the right equipment? We have a limited number of free loaner guns you may reserve!

OPTIC: 4x or greater magnification. 

  • The IDEAL optic for an AR platform is a low power variable optic (LPVO). 1-4x, 1-6x, 1-8x, etc. 
  • Also GREAT is an MPVO (Mid-power variable optic) such as 2-10x or similar.  
  • ACOGs and Prisms do VERY well in this class! - 4x, 5x, etc. 
  • A Red dot + magnifier is not ideal.  

A BACKPACK to rest your rifle on and carry gear with. See details at bottom of page.

 

PLEASE BRING - ESSENTIAL SHOTGUN

  • Safe, functional shotgun... 12-Ga or 20-Ga. PREFERRED
    • Bolt action, lever action, pump action, single shot, double barrel, semi automatic, etc. All safe functional shotguns are welcome.
    • Chambered in any common shotgun gauge. (See the buckshot requirement)
  • Some means to carry extra ammo on the shotgun. (Shell Sleeve / holder)
    • Side saddle or buttstock cuff attachment. 
  • 120 rounds birdshot ammunition - same brand, same type. 
  • 15 rounds buckshot.  Suggested loads:
    • Federal Flite Control 8-pellet
    • Federal Flite Control 9-pellet
    • Hornady TAP Low recoil
    • Winchester Ranger
    • Speer Lawman


OPTIONAL

  • Sunscreen, bug spray, etc.
  • Lawn chair


DO NOT BRING

  • Hand-loaded ammunition is not permitted in class. Bring quality factory brass or aluminum cased ammo.  
  • DO NOT bring Green tip or armor piercing ammo - we will be shooting steel targets. 
  • DO NOT bring steel cased ammo for pistols 
  • DO NOT bring steel cased ammo for  AR-15s - you will hate yourself. Steel cased ammo OK for AK-47 and AK-74
  • Mixed brands/types of ammo - bring a single brand and type
  • Serpa Holsters. Nylon holsters.
  • Do not bring an AK or SKS to Scoped Rifle Fundamentals 
  • Bipods are not forbidden, but we will not be using them. Literally, the FIRST thing we will do is have you remove it for the day.

CLASS PROFILE - ADVANCED CLASSES - $2000

These classes are designed to build on your foundation of basics of using a handgun or rifle for self defense - bringing you up to an advanced level of skill. 


ADVANCED LEVEL CLASSES:

  • Advanced Pistol: Active Shooter
  • Advanced Pistol: Church Security
  • Advanced Rifle: CQB Mastery
  • Advanced Rifle: Long Range Patrol 2-Day  ($2500)

(Prerequisite: A zeroed Rifle and fundamental rifle handling ability - load, unload, malfunction clearing) 


Among the topics covered:

Advanced Pistol: Active Shooter & Church Security:

  • We will establish a good draw and reholster sequence
  • We will cover Pistol marksmanship
  • We will cover public defensive considerations and manuevers
  • We will cover advanced use of cover and concealment
  • We will cover partner work
  • Church Security will have church-specific information and exercises based on these issues. 

Advanced Rifle: CQB Mastery:

  • We will cover height over bore considerations and close range with a rifle. 
  • We will cover 2 man and 4 man team entry and clearing strategies. 
  • We will cover center fed and corner fed room clearing techniques
  • We will cover threshold entry and dynamic entry concepts. 

Advanced Rifle: Long Range Patrol 2-Day ($2200): 

(Prerequisite: A zeroed Rifle and fundamental rifle handling ability - load, unload, malfunction clearing)

  • We will establish a proper zero for your sights / scope / red dot.  
  • We will cover patrol formations 
  • We will cover patrol types and functions
  • We will cover react to contact drills
  • We will cover advanced patrol types 
  • We will cover patrol ambushes
  • We will cover recon patrol considerations


 

PLEASE BRING - ALL ADVANCED LEVEL CLASSES

  • If you wear prescription lenses / glasses - BRING THEM! 
  • Notepad & pen  "Write in the rain" notepad & pen or pencil preferred. 
  • Eye protection & ear protection. 
  • Shemagh or small hand towel
  • WATER! 
  • Food - there is no place nearby from which to buy lunch / snacks.


PLEASE BRING - ADVANCED PISTOL (Active Shooter & Church Security)

  • Your carry Pistol
  • Quality holster (kydex or stiff leather - stays open for reholstering)
  • OWB (outside the waistband) is ok!
  • IWB (inside the waistband) is ok!
  • AIWB (appendix inside the waistband) is ok!
  • Sturdy Carry belt
  • 3 or more magazines.   Please feel free to prep mags ahead of class. 
  • 300 rounds ammunition - same brand, same type 


PLEASE BRING - ADVANCED RIFLE: CQB MASTERY

A ZEROED fighting rifle: AR-15 or AK47 / AK-74 preferred.

  • AR-15 or AK-47 / AK-74 pistols / SBRs are fine for this class.
  • PCCs and .22LR rifles are NOT recommended. They jam too much. The ones that jam the most are the ones that "never have had issues before." 
  • Iron sights, red dots, scopes all acceptable. 
  • Your rifle MUST have an attached sling. 

2-point preferred. Patriot Training recommends a Vickers sling, a Magpul MS style sling, or similar.

  • 5 or more magazines.   Please prep mags ahead of class. 
  • 500 rounds of rifle ammo - same brand / same type. 
  • Don't have the right equipment? We have a limited number of free loaner guns you may reserve!

Chest Rig or Battle Belt  

(Able to transport a minimum of 3 rifle mags at a given time + mag in the rifle.)

  • Leatherman or similar
  • Flashlight (not affixed to rifle)
  • IFAK suggested, not required. 

Rucksack / Backpack

  • New Notepad & pen - prefer "write in the rain" style.
  • BRING A LUNCH - we will have a "field lunch".
  • Canteen(s) / water bladder - 2+ L of water
  • Creature comforts - bug spray, sunscreen. 
  • Your rucksack should weigh less than 30 pounds. 

An LBE style belt is acceptable in place of the chest rig & ruck sack (or battle belt & ruck).  

  • It needs to be able to carry all of the items from the chest rig + the rucksack. Most LBE belts will do this easily.   


PLEASE BRING - LONG RANGE PATROL 2-DAY

A ZEROED fighting rifle: AR-15 or AK47 / AK-74 preferred.

  • AR-15 or AK-47 / AK-74 pistols / SBRs are fine for this class.
  • Your SPR or DMR is welcome - be prepared to bring the skills to back it up! 
  • PCCs and .22LR rifles are NOT recommended. They jam too much. The ones that jam the most are the ones that "never have had issues before." 
  • Iron sights, red dots, scopes all acceptable. 
  • Your rifle MUST have an attached sling. 2-point preferred. Patriot Training recommends a Vickers sling, a Magpul MS style sling, or similar.
  • 5 or more magazines.   Please prep mags ahead of class. 
  • 500 rounds of rifle ammo - same brand / same type. 
  • Don't have the right equipment? We have a limited number of free loaner guns you may reserve!

Chest Rig or Battle Belt  

(Able to transport a minimum of 3 rifle mags at a given time + mag in the rifle.)

  • Leatherman or similar
  • Flashlight (not affixed to rifle)
  • IFAK suggested, not required. 

Rucksack / Backpack

  • New Notepad & pen - prefer "write in the rain" style.
  • Lighter
  • Survival knife (can be worn on belt / rig, or kept in rucksack)
  • BRING A LUNCH - we will have a "field lunch".
  • Duct tape
  • Canteen(s) / water bladder - 2+ L of water
  • 50 feet of 550 cord or similar
  • Creature comforts - bug spray, sunscreen. 
  • Your rucksack should weigh less than 30 pounds. 

An LBE style belt is acceptable in place of the chest rig & ruck sack (or battle belt & ruck).  

  • It needs to be able to carry all of the items from the chest rig + the rucksack. Most LBE belts will do this easily.  


OPTIONAL

  • Sunscreen, bug spray, etc.
  • Lawn chair
  • Pistol + OWB Holster + 100 rounds for emergency transitions.
